Anchors Aweigh

And away we go!
At 0530 on July 23rd I will be processed, examined, poked and prodded at MEPS, and then stay at a hotel here in SD. Then early the next day I fly to Chicago and begin 9 weeks of Basic Training at Great Lakes Naval Training Center.

Then in October I'll go to Armed Forces Music School in Little Creek, Virginia.

Kind of strange, I'll be following the same path as where we lived as kids (IL-VA). Then after up to six months of music school, who knows???

Then Leah and Alex come to PL for some grub, and Leah and I went on to the Spafford Party, and on to the Del Mar Fair. Navy Band SW played on the grandstand stage for 1 1/2 hours, I got to play oboe with them, it was super fun Americana style.

Thanks for being my buddy tonight Leah!

Blue Moon

Tonight Sara and I went on a mission: To Capture the Blue Moon.

At 8:15pm it still hadn't risen, and Sara said "If this moon doesn't show up I'm gonna kick his ass." She probably could too.

Then we got the girls in the van and went to Shelter Island, just as the big yellow moon was rising. Here are some photos:
